Washington is transformed after sunset. Illuminated memorials, quiet avenues, reflections across the Tidal Basin, and dramatic views of the Capitol and National Mall give the city a completely different character after dark.

Our private Washington by Moonlight tour is a carefully paced three-hour evening journey through the monuments, memorials, architecture, and civic spaces that define the nation’s capital. Selected stops may include the Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, and other significant sites, together with memorable nighttime views of the U.S. Capitol, Washington Monument, White House, and National Mall.

Along the way, your guide explores the history, architecture, symbolism, and national memory embodied in Washington’s monumental landscape. There is time to step out, look closely, take photographs, ask questions, and experience selected sites without the rush of a large-group sightseeing tour.

Every itinerary can be adjusted according to your interests, mobility, available time, and preferred pace. Some guests focus on presidential history and national memorials; others are drawn to architecture, photography, city planning, or the way Washington’s ceremonial landscape changes after dark.

November–February: Typically 5:30–6:30 p.m. March, April, September & October: Typically 6:30–7:30 p.m. May–August: Typically 8:00–8:30 p.m.

Departure times may be adjusted to accommodate seasonal sunset times, weather conditions, road closures, and special events.
